Welcome to St Richard Gwyn Catholic High School’ Website
Croeso i Wefan Ysgol Uwchradd Gatholig Sant Richard Gwyn

I’m delighted to welcome you to our website.

St Richard Gwyn Catholic High School has been at the heart of Catholic comprehensive education for nearly 60 years, serving Flintshire’s families with a tradition of excellence and achievement. We thrive in our partnership with The Diocese of Wrexham and Flintshire Education. Our record proves we offer young people opportunities at all levels to develop skills and academic attainment which open doors for their progression into further study and employment. We have a well-equipped learning environment which enhances the programmes of learning and high calibre staff who support our drive for the highest possible outcomes for our students.

The most recent Estyn and Wrexham Diocesan Inspection of 2008 praises St Richard Gwyn:

"This is an Outstanding Catholic School"

"Outstanding pupil motivation and behaviour"

"Outstanding pastoral care, respect for diversity and working relationships"

"Outstanding leadership and management"

"Outstanding GCSE results"

"Outstanding working relationship with parents"

‘We haven’t seen such an entire school behaving so well before’

This website is designed to be as informative as possible about our daily, weekly and monthly programme, whether it be the actual breakdown of subject learning undertaken by students, or the resources available to all which will help support learning. Parents are particularly encouraged to spend time familiarising themselves with what happens in the classroom, so they can be a valuable resource to their child.

You will see from a variety of areas how diverse and rich the curriculum is at St Richard Gwyn. We enjoy a strong Catholic identity, which welcomes all those who share and support our ideals. Our house system is based on the Welsh Saints, Dewi, Gwen and Beuno who give us a strong sense of our continuity with our rich tradition here in Wales.

Whether you are a member of our community or a welcome visitor to our site you will find a weekly digest of our activities reported in the GWYN NEWS.

If you are interested in finding out more about our school please make contact with us through the links provided. Visiting the school itself might show you more about what we have to offer, and such visits may be organised either on open mornings and evenings, or through making an appointment. Please leave messages on our school guest book page with your comments about this website.
